Outline of Cosmetology Program

The Academy does things a little bit different. The school’s curriculum combines a full spectrum of cutting-edge techniques, hands-on experience, real-life business skills and personal growth from the inside out that students need when starting their beauty careers.

We have partnered with L’Oreal Professionnel to train students on the best product line available, and the Summit Salon Business Center to learn the ins and outs of building a clientele, selling retail products and more. Students will work with experts to master a wide range of skills:

Upon completion of the cosmetology program, students are prepared to become, and succeed as licensed cosmetologists. They also will be armed with industry connections and the knowledge to work on photo shoots, runway shows, and with fashion designers and high-profile clients.

Salon Realities

Salon Realities is our very own, unique cosmetology school program. Positions on each team include:

Owner/Salon Manager (Academy Educator)

Student Salon Co-Managers (Academy students)

Student Council Member (Academy students)

These roles will allow students to:

Honors Program

Students can customize their program by participating in the Academy of Hair Design Honors program. Honor students can receive official certifications in areas that interest them most, such as:

Upon completing the criteria for an honors program, students will receive a certificate that they may include in their future portfolio, setting them apart from the competition.

Portfolio Building

Portfolios are a crucial part to getting started in the industry. When interviewing, employers will review portfolios to gather knowledge about a candidate’s skills, talents, accomplisments, and reputation as a stylist.

To prepare students with this important tool, portfolio building is incorporated into senior coursework. Seniors will build out well-crafted portfolios with photos, certificates, and other materials that will support their future success as a cosmetologist.
